C.A.M.P. with the City of Dreams Girls

Guided by the City of Dreams Program Manager and C.A.M.P. Alum, Kristine, the girls of our organization completed a 3-day camping adventure at Redwood Glen Park in Loma Mar!  Short for Camp Alumni Membership Program, C.A.M.P. is a Boys and Girls camp created for kids in San Francisco’s most excluded neighborhoods.  Founders George Lai and Wilmer Fong noticed discriminatory camp administration towards kids in neighborhoods like Chinatown, the Tenderloin, and Bayview Hunters Point so, they created their own camp in response.  Kristine, who usually accompanies the youth on adventures like these, connected us with her former peers and gave the CoD girls this new guided camping experience!

The activity lineup looked like this: swimming, archery, hiking, singing, campfires, crafts, cooking, zip-lining, s’mores, exploring nature using new tools, and learning the basics of camping.

City of Dreams recognizes organizations like C.A.M.P. as of incredible value to our mission of building community and sharing experiences with the youth.  Lai and Fong understood the exclusion plaguing our neighborhoods and created an action plan in response.

Thank you to the staff at C.A.M.P. for your welcoming embrace of our girls and to Kristine, for your dedication to the youth.
